Rebecca Lea

  • I always knew that I wanted to help others thrive, from dreaming of being a teacher, to studying psychology, to eventually pivoting into the business world and discovering a passion for people management and positive psychology.

I was called to coaching, earning a Master of Business Coaching with Distinction and practicing as a coach and new manager mentor at the University of Wollongong. In subsequent PhD studies, I delved into human strengths and positive wellbeing contagion within social networks. I found myself fixated on scientifically supported techniques, trawling through journal articles, and scrutinising methodologies with an inclination towards numerical data and “hard facts”.

One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned from my education is to question the answers. Every scientific study has flaws and biases. Every publishing journal has an agenda. Science cannot possibly know everything because we’re learning new things every minute of every day. There are things beyond our understanding and our measurement techniques. A placebo effect is still an effect. I’m grateful for my scepticism as it helps to balance my scientific and spiritual understandings and fundamental approach to self-knowledge and development.

Though I considered myself spiritual as a teen, I set it aside to pursue a traditional academic and career path. Then, my life fell apart, and I realised my values no longer aligned with my workplace of 13 years. Despite my scepticism, the Universe made it clear that I have a spiritual guide. The circumstances leading to this were wild, but it fortuitously led me to embrace psychic development. I believe we all have untapped psychic gifts waiting to be discovered.

I think mental illness is more the norm than not, and I’ve been open about my struggles with mental health since my teens. I’ve faced repeated exposure to violence and addiction, been hospitalised, medicated, and have worked with amazing long-term psychs. These experiences, and hard personal work, have made me trauma-informed and compassionate.

In hindsight, I see my turbulent life—including the loss of a classmate at 11, cancer diagnosis and treatment in my 20s, divorce, chronic pain, and bariatric surgery—as a blessing. These challenges shaped who I am and allow me to deeply connect with others. Through vulnerability, I create a safe space, and that’s a cherished gift.

Reflective Card Reading

Card readings use symbolic cards to explore personal insights, gain clarity, and encourage self-discovery. The symbols, imagery, and narrative of the cards and spreads can be used to connect you with your intuition and help you reflect on aspects of your life that need attention or understanding. Card readings provide a space for exploration and introspection that often yields insights not readily accessible through everyday thinking.

You don’t need to be psychic to draw or read cards, but a little woo-woo can bring additional perspectives and guidance. While I personally believe there is some prophecy in the cards, you have the power of free will, so nothing is set in stone.

There is a lot of history behind Lenormand and Tarot, the systems I primarily use. The Tarot originated in 15th-century Italy as a card game before evolving into a tool for divination and spiritual insight in the 18th century, with its imagery rich in symbolism and archetypes. Lenormand emerged in the 19th century as a compact, practical divination system focused on everyday matters. While Tarot delves into psychological and spiritual exploration, Lenormand provides concise, grounded readings with a focus on direct answers.

  • Scientific research on card reading supports its role in self-reflection and personal insight.

While not scientifically supported as a predictive tool, card readings do aid in emotional and cognitive processing, and engaging with cards stimulates reflection, promotes self-awareness, and supports mental clarity. The cards encourage mindfulness and offer a structured way to explore thoughts and feelings, which ultimately supports them as valuable tools for personal growth.

Some interesting reading for those curious:
Hofer, G. (2004) Tarot Cards: An Investigation of their Benefit as a Tool for Self Reflection, Concordia University.
Semetsky, I. (2005) ‘Integrating Tarot readings into counselling and psychotherapy’, Spirituality and Health International 6(2), pp.81-94.
Delistraty, C. (2016) ‘The Surprising Historical Significance of Fortune-Telling’, JSTOR Daily.

  • Card readings connect you with your inner self and higher wisdom. The imagery, symbolism, and messages in the cards can rapidly progress personal growth and spiritual development.

Oracle cards can be said to allow more freedom for the reader to engage their intuition without traditional meanings interrupting any spiritual guidance coming through, but that also depends on how the reader uses and interprets their cards.

Traditional Tarot cards and the historical archetypes and symbols within them are believed to act as a conduit to our unconscious mind and are capable of opening up a deeper understanding of self and the Universe.

Lenormand cards, with their roots in 18th-century Europe, offer a structured and straightforward approach to divination. Lenormand complements deeper intuitive exploration by providing grounded clarity and actionable insights.

  • I was a witchy teen and have read Tarot on and off since the age of 13. After a significant spiritual shake-up that began in my late thirties, I returned to reading cards daily. Already familiar with the Tarot, I discovered Lenormand by chance. I immediately felt aligned and saw endless potential in its straightforward messages.

My approach to card reading is informed by psychotherapeutic approaches and my academic and long-term corporate background in coaching, alongside professional Tarot reading certification. The difference in my readings is that I facilitate a two-way conversation, creating a space for reflection, self-insight, and deep exploration, alongside divination. You are an active and engaged party in the process.

Each card system I use contributes something unique to the reading. Tarot brings its rich history, archetypes, and deep symbolism, perfect for delving into the unconscious. Oracle cards create space for intuition to flow freely, unhindered by rigid traditional meanings. Lenormand’s concise and direct messages combine beautifully with reflective coaching conversations, blending intuition with practical self-discovery. With the traditional card meanings of Tarot and Lenormand in the back of my mind, I read stories in card imagery and follow my intuition and gifts.

Although I have undergone psychic development and read intuitively with an ear to my guides, I don't believe that card reading requires psychic abilities to be beneficial. I see the cards as a way to focus in on an issue or tune into your true self, to tap into your thinking processes and unconscious mind.

Coaching and Strengths Assessment

Coaching is a collaborative partnership focused on empowering you to recognise your authentic self and stretch to your potential. I take a strengths-based coaching approach (more about that below).

Coaching helps to build your self-awareness, identify your strengths and values, and approach and overcome obstacles in your best unique way. Coaching can be accessed for help with your career, setting up a business, navigating parenthood, moving past a divorce, exploring ways to boost your wellbeing, or anything you can think of that requires objective guidance!

A coach provides a sounding board, support, motivation, and accountability, but not all the answers… those are within you already.

  • Positive psychology - the balance to our natural deficit focus and widely researched area - underpins strengths-based coaching and is proven to increase motivation, productivity, and life satisfaction.

There is a lot to be said for putting words to your individual strengths. In fact, there is an extensive body of scientific research that links strengths identification and knowledge with increased wellbeing and productivity.

From there, actively applying your individual suite of strengths can be life changing. A broad body of scientific research links strengths use with engagement, productivity, positive wellbeing, and much more.

Coaching is an abundance-focused and person-centric approach that helps you to connect to your authentic self and build confidence and self-efficacy.

  • When we start to explore our strengths and gain insight into ourselves, it can often open up spiritual areas we may not have had the opportunity to properly explore.

Aligning your unique strengths and values with your spiritual gifts can result in a personal growth journey that is not just about achieving success, but also about creating that deeper connection with your authentic self, the energy of the world around you, and the higher realms.

  • I am a coach and strengths specialist with a Masters in Coaching and Strengths Profile accreditation. I’m a published researcher and have lectured at universities, presented at conferences, and conducted research in the areas of strengthspotting and wellbeing. I’ve taken a strengths-based approach to coaching and mentoring for over a decade and have integrated strength-based practice into team management.

While I’ve had plenty of formal training, I’m also a natural strengthspotter and have mastered proven methods to effectively read the strengths of individuals based on body feedback and individual narratives. I’m constantly overjoyed by the positive impact of strengths focus on people, both in a practical and spiritual sense. I love learning the strengths and gifts of others and empowering you to embrace your best and truest self.

It’s widely known that corporate coaching is where the money is (and I’ve experienced this side), but my passion is coaching individuals and groups from all backgrounds and in varied life areas outside of just work. I can certainly help you in your job where it’s needed, but you are so much more than your occupation.

Art as Therapy

Art therapy is a gentle but powerful way to explore and deeply connect with your inner self and higher wisdom.

This form of therapy combines creativity with therapeutic techniques and helps you to access deeper parts of your psyche. Before you panic, nope, you don’t need to have any artistic ability! It’s not about the outcome. The creative process is used as a tool for reflection, emotional processing, and accessing the unconscious mind.

By engaging with art-making in your own time and safe environment and then exploring the outcomes collaboratively, you can release emotions, gain insights, and work through personal challenges in a way that talking alone often can't achieve.

  • Art therapy is backed by substantial scientific research, demonstrating its effectiveness in promoting mental health, emotional wellbeing, and personal growth.

Studies show that creating art reduces stress by lowering cortisol levels and offers a non-verbal outlet for emotional expression, particularly beneficial for individuals coping with trauma, depression, and anxiety.

Art therapy enhances brain connectivity, encouraging neuroplasticity and improved cognitive function. It’s also been found to boost self-esteem, cultivate mindfulness, and heighten self-awareness.

Art therapy encourages flow states, enhances problem-solving skills, and nurtures creativity, which makes it an amazing tool for personal growth and boosting wellbeing. Group-based art therapy has shown additional benefits in reducing isolation and improving social functioning. Not bad for a bit of painting!

  • Inspired by Carl Jung’s ideas, art therapy taps into your unconscious mind, offering insights and deeper self-awareness. Creativity connects you to your inner self and guides you towards healing, balance, and growth.

Symbols, archetypes, and colour are all part of the process and analysis, and there are many interesting parallels with the Tarot. Art therapy provides a beautiful and symbolic means to expand your awareness and progress your spiritual journey if you so choose.

  • I’m a passionate artist and have enjoyed analysing artworks for as long as I can remember. I am a qualified Art Therapy Practitioner and have a background in appreciative enquiry that allows me to combine a positive psychology approach with open-minded and supportive creative and spiritual guidance.

I am endlessly fascinated by the unintentional symbols and archetypes that appear in others' art (and my own!) These often have universal meaning, and they've just (boop!) popped out of the unconscious mind! Awesome stuff.

I have long-term experience facilitating deep one-on-one conversations and engaging creative workshops and love nothing more than empowering others to realise their best selves.

Sometimes it’s serious, sometimes it’s fun, and all perceptions are welcome.

Nature Therapy

Nature therapy involves mindfully spending time in natural environments. Most of us are aware of the rejuvenating effect of simply being in nature, sometimes even in the simple act of stepping outside.

This is really no surprise given that we are physically, energetically, and spiritually interconnected with the natural world.

You don’t need to trek into the wilderness (although forest bathing is magical!); you simply need to find little pockets of green (plant life) or blue (water) space. Being outdoors, gardening, or even just finding somewhere your feet can connect with the Earth will do a world of good.

  • Rooted in the Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku (forest bathing), nature therapy is recognised for its ability to reduce stress and anxiety, enhance cognitive functioning, and improve overall wellbeing. Nature therapy practices have been scientifically proven to lower blood pressure and cortisol levels, boost mood, and increase feelings of happiness and connection.

The gentle act of being fully present and connecting with the Earth is incredibly restorative for the body and mind and there is now a strong foundation of science behind it (COVID really gave research a boost in this area!)

And this is just the start, as mindfulness practice, grounding, and breathwork is exceptionally good for us even without nature. So imagine those powers combined...

  • Nature therapy prompts you to remember the spiritual and energetic connection that you naturally have with the Earth. Engaging deeply with the natural environment renews your soul and creates a greater sense of harmony with yourself and your surroundings.

Plants, animals, inanimate objects (e.g., shells, rocks, crystals), and natural phenomena (e.g., beaches, mountains, storms) have an energy, vibration, or ‘spirit’ of their own. You only need to quieten your mind and listen.

There are countless nature-based spiritual practices, many originating in ancient times, from herbalism to essential oils to connection with animal guides. Nature-based spiritual practices are a beautiful extension of "straight" nature therapy.

  • I’m a bush spiritualist with training in Australian bush flower essences, energy healing, and herbal tea blending. I have a special interest and affinity with Australian native birds and I’m attuned to signs from nature.

I believe that nature therapy can be practiced anywhere you can step foot directly on the bare Earth. My practice involves grounding and mindfulness, complemented by Australian native essential oils, bush flower essences, and bush brews. Birdsong is my joy.

My purpose is not just to guide you, but to empower you to create your own rituals and connection with nature.
